challenges in my discipline

The challenges in my discipline involve a lot of aspects like technology, for example. In physical therapy there are a lot of machines and implements that help us to get better results with patients but they are very expensive so not all the hospitals can have the best technology. But I think that this deficiency of technology can help the imagine of the physical therapist to invent how to do something with out the machine, and I think that it really makes a very good physical therapist because they would prove that the results are from the imagination and not from a machine.
Other aspect that we should mention is social matter, because my career has a lot of impact on society at this moment, especially in Santiago because of the really bad air people get respiratory disease so they have to go to the physical therapist to help them breath. Other thing that I suppose why people like this area is because it is related with sports, so that makes it really attractive to people that like to do sports. I choose this career because you can also be an independent worker for example you can put your own consult and be your own boss, or you can work in a hospital and work half day and then you can dedicate to your family.
In future I would like to put my own consult with good implements, and being my own boss so I can make my own choices.
In this university I think that education is really good especially now with the new curricular because they teach us in first year how to palpate and how to use goniometrers to be more related with the career, and to develop habilities.
One of the bad things that physical therapy has is that we are “secondary consult”, I mean that usually you have to visit a doctor and then a physical therapist, but I think that in future that would change because a physical therapist is also qualified to make a diagnostic a patient, maybe doctors are trained to operate and a physical therapy wouldn’t ever be able to do it but that does not mean that you can not visit a phisycal therapist first.

  3. I think that we NEED machines and things as balls and stairs but the things that we can use added to the creativity of the physical therapist is what matters :)
